That is correct. however it's not always a one-to-one relationship, for example one of my candidates interviewed for Duke and was rejected whereas he was offered $40,000 for Michigan Ross, which was ranked higher, and $30,000 from Wharton, ranked #1.
He had a 650 GMAT, not sure what his GRE was but about the same however. But, he was French and French are a bit under-represented and he also had a very good application.
So, rank/GMAT has to do with it but it also relates to citizenship and diversity.
Do they have someone of your profile in the seat yet?
What I'm saying is somebody probably thought it would be a good idea to have a(nother) French person at Michigan you know what I mean? Hope this helps

Hi GMATClub!
This may be an obvious question, but does merit scholarship amount generally decrease with school rank? I.e., if I received $$$ in merit scholarship from a top 20 school, should I expect to get less from a top 10 school?
I'm excited to have been admitted to Tepper today with a significant Forté fellowship. I'm very happy with my acceptance and definitely don't want to get ahead of myself but am just curious to hear about others' experiences as it pertains to what my prospects might be if accepted at Top 10 or M7 school.
Does anyone have insight into this? Thanks in advance!
