Yes, typically any gaps of 3+ months will be need to be explained in your MBA applications. Be honest / upfront about the gap and explain some things you did during that time, even if you weren't working full time. Knowing this challenge, you'll also want to make sure all other aspects of your application are in great shape (e.g., test score, LORs, essays, etc.) and you may want to have a wider range of target schools just to play things a bit safer.
In terms of post-MBA job recruiting, you'll definitely want to seek advice from MBA career services once you're at a program, but I would think adding something brief on your resume would make sense to account for the gap.
Good luck!

Hi-
I have around 6 years of work experience in the IT industry and am on a career break since April-2016 due to personal health and family reasons.
Now, I am looking to pursue MBA and restart my career. Does having a gap in my career create any hurdles for getting admissions in B-Schools or getting a job post completion of MBA?
Thanks in advance.
