I know! I am furiously studying to retake the GMAT so that I can get an 800. It's clearly the only way that I can offset my Indian upbringing. Clearly, adcoms only like scores that begin with the number 8. :)

actually, not true... :) You want to get 790, no more, no less, since adcoms like Stanford pride themselves in rejecting every single 800 applicant each year. :P

I believe most schools offer class visits throughout the year when classes are in session. I've visited one this week and I'm on my way to another today.

spideyeclipse27
Talking about school visits...Do they offer class visits as early as April or do I have to wait till early fall.

From what I understand from talking with a few schools, you can only visit in the fall. It seems that class visits in the spring are reserved for interview invites and admits.

See, I've heard both sides now. Some schools, like USC and UCLA, don't start classes until October, which makes it hard to visit before applying in round 1. I had planned on doing some visits in April to NY and California, but now I'm not sure what my options are

I just visited Sloan and HBS this week, and I scheduled them through their websites. I'm pretty sure most of the Northeast schools are open to anyone at this time of year...

Haas, Stanford, and UCLA will be open till at least May 1st. With Haas closing on that day, and UCLA and Stanford probably going on till mid-May or so. Do it NOW! Since you'll have 1-2 weeks at most to get stuff in your essays after your visit for UCLA and Stanford this fall.

Thanks for the info Kryzak. I have one more question. Can you please compare between attending the school and attending an info session. Since attending a lot of schools is an expensive proposition.

1) What schools are on your list right now? Planning to apply to 5 programs: Penn, Chicago, Columbia (may replace with NYU), Duke, UNC

2) What is the state of your current preparations? Took the GMAT last month, planning to visit Penn and Chicago this spring, about to begin a leadership position at an EC org that I've been active in for a while, taking notes on possible essay material.

3) What's the scariest part of the process at this point? Not getting accepted to any school.

4) How serious is your pursuit at this point? Fully committed...been planning this for the past 2 years.

Physician looking for a career change!

1) What schools are on your list right now? Harvard, Stanford, Chicago, Kellogg, Wharton, MIT, Dartmouth, Columbia, Michigan, Duke, NYU (I know)

2) What is the state of your current preparations? Currently studying for the GMAT. Plan on taking the GMAT in late June.

3) What's the scariest part of the process at this point? Preparing for the GMAT. Seeing so many impressive candidates on the GMATClub boards and thinking how difficult it is going to be to compete.

4) How serious is your pursuit at this point? Very serious. No turning back.

I still can't manage to get any information from their website about scheduling the visit. I go to their site, and when I put in my dates, every entry comes up as "Event Closed" and won't allow registration.

Omne, which schools?

UCLA specifically, same problem that Spidey is having. I'd like to fly out to LA towards the end of April, spend a day at USC and a day at UCLA, take a few days to enjoy warm weather (winter lasts nine months in Ohio), and maybe run up to Haas.

Hey Omne,

If you're here in the Bay Area in April, drop me a line. Would love to meet up.

But yeah, UCLA has problems with their class visits... they should still have it in April, but maybe it's glitchy because it's a new quarter?

I sent them an email to see what the situation is. If I can't visit, I'd rather not fly out in April and hold off until the fall.

And I'll definitely let you know when I'm in the Bay Area!
