Ed = 100+robert
Ed - 20 = 5*robert
Ed = 5*robert + 20
100+robert = 5*robert + 20
80 = 4*robert
robert = 20

A is the answer.

Ed has 100 dollars more than Robert. After Ed spends twenty dollars on groceries, Ed has 5 times as much money as Robert. How much money does Robert have?

A. $20
B. $30
C. $40
D. $50
E. $120

Ed = E $ and Robert = R

E(initial) = R + 100

Amount E will have after spending $ 20 on Groceries
E(New) = R + 80
E(New) = 5R

Comparing both the statements
4R = 80
R = 20

Robert will have 20 $.

Answer A.

A. $20

let robert have x
so ed = 100+x
100-20+x; 80+x
x+80=5x
4x=80
x=20
IMO A
