With this background, it doesn't really matter (ofc, It'll be good to have an excellent score to make your profile even better).

Why don't you consider ESCP MiF, tho?

Thanks! Do you know if a 4.0/5.0 GPA, 1.5 years of work experience (including roles at Bain and KPMG), strong referral letters from my university, good French proficiency, and international exposure make for a competitive application?

While it's true that the GMAT isn't strictly required, it can sometimes strengthen your application, especially if your score is decent. The GMAT serves as a standardized measure to showcase your problem-solving abilities, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning skills.

That said, if you're confident that other parts of your application—such as your academic record, professional experience, and any additional certifications—sufficiently demonstrate these competencies, then it's absolutely okay to proceed without the GMAT. A well-rounded application can still make a strong case for your admission.

I initially thought I’d need a high GMAT score, but I currently have a 555 and I am retaking the test next week. Do they accept applicants with scores below 615–635?

Your profile is highly competitive with a 4.0/5.0 GPA, 1.5 years of experience at Bain and KPMG, strong referral letters, good French proficiency, and international exposure. These elements showcase your well-rounded strengths.

However, admissions decisions often come down to differentiators. If another candidate has a similar profile but a stronger GMAT score, it could tilt the balance. While the GMAT isn’t the sole deciding factor, it supports your narrative of academic excellence and demonstrates your ability to perform under pressure—important for standing out in a competitive pool.

To maximize your chances, ensure your application presents a cohesive story, emphasizing how your unique experiences and skills align with the program's goals. A strong GMAT score and compelling essays can reinforce your achievements and set you apart.
