Hi himanshugoyal26,

I'm happy to help but I would also first like to know more about your situation with the GMAT. Once you respond to the questions already asked, I can provide some advice.

Hi Himanshu,

Congratulations on scoring a 710. You can definitely push your score to 750 if you tweak your approach a little. Let me help you here.

ESR analysis:

You seem to be majorly struggling with SC module. The performance in CR and RC modules are good enough but there is still scope for improvement. As the struggle is majorly with SC, let me help with that first.

How to solve SC questions?

Before you start learning the concepts of SC, you need to understand that SC questions on GMAT test your ability to convey the right meaning without any ambiguity. So, it's important to approach them from a meaning stand-point. You might have often come across answer choices which are both grammatically correct and convey a logical meaning but are indeed incorrect because they do not convey the intended meaning. So, the process to approach SC questions is to:

  • Comprehend the original meaning of the sentence
  • Identify errors if any (both grammatical and meaning wise)
  • Eliminate answer choices which either are grammatically incorrect or do not convey the intended meaning

You can go through the recording below to understand the process in a better way.

So, you need to master each and every step to get the process right. You need to first identify at which step you are making the mistake. And to do that, introspect yourself whether you are struggling with the concepts or the methodology.

  • If you are struggling with the concepts, then revisit the concepts and understand them perfectly this time.
  • If you are struggling with the methodology, then analyze the solutions of the questions in detail. Go through each step of the solution, identify the step at which you are making the mistake, introspect what made you take that decision at that point of time and then nullify the gaps.

As your accuracy is close to 50%, I don't think you are majorly struggling with the concepts. Try to focus more on the process and you can definitely improve your score. You can go through the recording below to understand the right way to improve your Verbal score.

How to proceed further?

I can help you in a much better way if you can tell me the way you prepared till now, your study strategy and the approach you use to solve questions of each module. You can write back to me here or a better way is to get in touch over a zoom conference call and discuss the same. That way, we can dive deep into your ESR and get more insights from it. You can use the link below to schedule a call with me.

Meanwhile, you can go through the success story of one of our students, who improved his Verbal score from 34 to 41 and eventually scored 740 on GMAT.

Hi himanshugoyal26,

Based on the data from your ESR, it's clear that SC seems to be your biggest weakness. Would you agree with that?
