ESR Analysis

Question

I gave my GMAT yesterday i scored a 570. I am totally lost. Please analyze my ESR and tell my shortcomings.

For Verbal, working on time management may be helpful. You spent 23 seconds on average per question during Q4, for example. Although RC was the weakest of your 3 Verbal subsections, you may want to take that data with a grain of salt if, for example, most of the RC questions you faced were in Q4 and you were forced to skip or rush through them due to a lack of time.

Read up on how to handle plan questions and practice those. Note that the AIM of the plan is the most important part of the argument. We need to focus on whether achieving the aim becomes more or less likely with a certain course of action.
In RC, know that in stated detail questions (where the answer is present in the passage), you do need to go back and look for the answer before you mark it. Don't rely on memory until and unless you have an exceptional memory. GMAT aces at giving information in a convoluted way such that you are likely to mark the wrong answer if you do not double back.

In Quant, your Arithmetic and Number Properties are good. Algebra and Geometry are not. So review those topics well. You took 3 mins per question in quarter 1 and that is not ok. It left you little time for quarter 4 and hence the number of mistakes you made kept increasing in each quarter. Most GMAT question cane done in 1 -2 mins. If you are taking more than 3 mins on any question, guess and move on. A wrong hard question will not lead to a big penalty but missing easy questions later on will.

KarishmaB  Actually the Geometry questions popped up in the later phase of the test mostly Qtr 3 and 4 so i had very less time to solve.

Hi Dip050701.

Your ESR indicates that, to achieve your score goal, you need to strengthen some weaker areas of Quant and prepare more for all areas of Verbal.

So, basically, to get to your goal, you need to prepare more effectively and hold off on taking the GMAT again until your practice accuracies and practice test scores indicate that you're ready to achieve your target score.

To strengthen weaker areas of Quant, you can work on one at a time, first reviewing concepts and strategies involved in a topic and then practicing until you're skilled in the topic.
