Every painting hanging in the Hoular Gallery is by a French painter. No painting in the Hoular Gallery is by a Vorticist. Only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.

If the information above is true, which of the following must also be true?
(A) No French painters are Vorticists.
(B) All Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(C) Some French painters do not use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(D) No French painters use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(E) All French painters who use acrylics use acrylic monochromes in their works.

The OA for this does not match with my interpretation. According to me it should be (D)..Is that correct? Can somebody help??

Every painting hanging in the Hoular Gallery is by a French painter. No painting in the Hoular Gallery is by a Vorticist. Only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.

If the information above is true, which of the following must also be true?
(A) No French painters are Vorticists.
See below
(B) All Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.
*Only V use AM ==> doesn't imply that V don't use mediums other than AM. For the latter, it should be "All V use only AM."
(C) Some French painters do not use acrylic monochromes in their works.
*Correct
(D) No French painters use acrylic monochromes in their works.
*See below. Can't be inferred.
(E) All French painters who use acrylics use acrylic monochromes in their works.
---> nowhere mentioned.(OUT OF SCOPE)

Hoular Gallery has
1 => All paintings by French Painter(F)
2 => No Paintings by Vorticist(V)
------
3 Also, V uses acrylic monochromes(AM)

Point 1 doesn't imply that gallery represent all french painters. There may be some (can't be inferred from the current premises) french painters who use AM but their paintings are not put up in the gallery.
So, what is true is that the some french painters, presented by the ones whose paintings are put up in the gallery, do not use AM.

Great explanation Sudeep!!!

Just to add on to your explanation..the argument never states that no french is a Vorticist..it can be a case that soe vortocists are French or some french are vortocists.

hence C
