Advice on How to Navigate the MBA Waitlist[/caption]
Despite the name “waitlist,” there are several things you can do besides simply wait for your dream school to call.
Regardless of which school you're waiting for, from a strategic standpoint, sitting in a state of limbo gives you the opportunity to improve your profile or status as a candidate, and such improvements can and should be communicated to the admissions committees.  The way you do this is straightforward and is usually as simple as sending a short email with the update (e.g. you were promoted at work, received some kind of community award or position, or got an A in that accounting class you were taking at the local community college).
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER REVISE YOUR APPLICATION WITH ANY INFORMATION WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL APPLICATION.
For this reason, don’t submit things that you “forgot” to include—this would be considered poor judgment, but rather only new information or changes in your profile which are potentially interesting or important to your candidacy.
MOST SCHOOLS WILL ALSO ACCEPT NEW GMAT OR GRE SCORES FROM AN APPLICANT WHO HAS ELECTED TO REMAIN ACTIVE ON THE WAITLIST.

FROM Stacy Blackman Consulting Blog: Wharton School Creates New Opportunities in Global Real Estate Education
Image

The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has announced the establishment of the Grayken Program in International Real Estate, a major new asset to the school’s Samuel Zell and Robert Lurie Real Estate Center and Real Estate Department.

This leadership gift from alumnus John P. Grayken, which will fund the new program, will significantly enhance the global real estate offerings and impact of the Wharton School. Grayken is Founder and Chairman of Lone Star Funds, a prominent private equity firm that invests globally in real estate, equity, credit and other financial assets.

The comprehensive Grayken Program in International Real Estate will fund academic programming for students; industry events and outreach; and faculty research. Mr. Grayken’s support enriches Wharton’s entire real estate community, first by nurturing students who will go on to innovate and effect change in real estate globally.

It will also expand Wharton’s real estate program’s reach, enabling connections with leading investors around the world that will complement its domestic network. Finally, the program enhances Wharton faculty’s ability to conduct and publish influential international real estate research, as well as interact with leading industry professionals.

“We’re honored by John’s partnership with and generosity to Wharton,” said Dean and Reliance Professor of Management and Private Enterprise Geoffrey Garrett. “He is helping us expand the depth and reach of our programming in global real estate – from students who aspire to become real estate leaders, to alumni and executives around the world driving and defining the industry, to faculty whose research is shaping how academics and professionals understand one of the world’s most important industries.”

Wharton MBA Program Announces Establishment of Moelis Advance Access P [#permalink]

Ken Moelis W’80/WG’81 and Julie Taffet Moelis W’81 have made a $10 million gift to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to establish the Ken Moelis and Julie Taffet Moelis Advance Access Program. This program will provide highly qualified UPenn undergraduates whose academic and career interests are outside those of traditional business school students with a deferred admission opportunity. Eventually the program will grow to permit applications from the best undergraduate schools throughout the US and around the world.

The program is open to all Penn undergraduates beginning with the Class of 2018 who want a guaranteed pathway to a Wharton MBA while they pursue meaningful work experience. Students in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Nursing, the Wharton School, and all other coordinated dual degrees are able to apply. Applications will be accepted starting March 2018 during Round 3 of the MBA admissions cycle.

Students admitted as Moelis Fellows have guaranteed admission to the Wharton MBA Program after a two- to four-year deferment period to be used to pursue job opportunities in fields that are of interest to them, including those that go beyond the traditional definitions of business. Moelis Fellows will submit a Declaration of Intent to enroll during each year of the deferment period, updating their employment information for verification. During this period, Moelis Fellows will also participate in professional development, mentoring occasions, and social programs. Finally, they will be considered for a $10,000 fellowship per year during the two-year full-time MBA program.

According to UPenn President Amy Gutmann, “Ken and Julie [Moelis] are encouraging students to think early about their graduate degree, venture into diverse fields after graduation, and bring these robust, interdisciplinary experiences to their Wharton MBA journey.”
