No errors according to me. Meaning is intact. CORRECT CHOICE

B) Female pandas gestate only for 2 to 3 months and give birth to young ones who can start to feed themselves, a process frees
Female pandas don't do two things i.e. gestate and give birth. INCORRECT

C) Female pandas gestate only for 2 to 3 months, giving birth to young ones who start to feed themselves and freeing
The verb-ing modifier "freeing" seems to modify "female pandas". So the sentence means "female pandas free the mother from stress....." Doesnt make any sense. INCORRECT

D) The gestation period of female pandas lasts only for 2 to 3 months, giving birth to young ones who can start to feed themselves, a process freeing
The gestation period gives birth to young ones? :lol: . INCORRECT

E) The gestation period of female pandas lasts only for 2 to 3 months to give birth to young ones who can start to feed themselves and to free
"The gestation period lasts only for 2 to 3 months to give birth" - Doesnt make any sense at all. INCORRECT

Of the answer options available, the sentence is best as is.(Option A)

A) Female pandas gestate only for 2 to 3 months before giving birth to young ones who start to feed themselves, a process that frees
B) Female pandas gestate only for 2 to 3 months and give birth to young ones who can start to feed themselves, a process frees
C) Female pandas gestate only for 2 to 3 months, giving birth to young ones who start to feed themselves and freeing - Change in meaning from the original sentence
D) The gestation period of female pandas lasts only for 2 to 3 months, giving birth to young ones who can start to feed themselves, a process freeing
E) The gestation period of female pandas lasts only for 2 to 3 months to give birth to young ones who can start to feed themselves and to free - Change in meaning from the original sentence

Although A seems to be the best among the choices, this question is having a fundamental flaw. The use of the relative pronoun 'who' to refer to the young ones of the female pandas is highly dubious. Choice D and E, however, are worth looking at for bringing out the misplaced modification to the fore.

Rssing.com should be avoided, I feel.

In option A, 'a process' can refer to the actions of previous clause...gestate, giving birth, feed on themselves.
I dropped A and chose E coz I thought it can refer to gestate or feed on themselves
How to make sure that it is referring to which action
