Hi All,
I finished
MGMAT SC so Indecised to solve few questions from OG2020. I headed over to gmatclub and realised my accuracy is terrible. I usually able to reach to two best possible choices but end up selecting the wrong one.
How do I proceed further in my prep? Inwanted to study CR from powerscore but now I think may be I should do more ?
Should I read
MGMAT again or do problems on GMAT club till Inmake it ?
Any tips ?
Posted from my mobile deviceHello,
jbatra. You are correct in saying that a 40-percent accuracy on SC will do your eventual score no favors. Rather than reread the
Manhattan Prep material, I would suggest revisiting specific questions you have missed--you have been keeping track, right?--so that you can look them up on this site and read the Expert analyses, as well as the many insightful comments the community has provided. I like to say that when you grasp what makes the
incorrect answers incorrect, or in SC at least less desirable at times, you can become a force to be reckoned with on any of the individual GMAT™ Verbal components: SC, CR, or RC. You can supplement such research with additional small sets of practice questions, maybe 10 or so at a time. Depending on when you may wish to take the exam, this process could take two weeks, a month, or become a part of an ongoing process while you branch out to other portions of the test. It is important not to focus so heavily on one part that it comes at the expense of another, and switching things up is a way to keep your enthusiasm up and momentum going over the course of your prep work. I guarantee that by the time you would pick up your
Manhattan Prep SC guide again, you would look at it in a different way. Focus on the next step in your progression. If your SC accuracy stands at 40 percent now, then see if you can get it up to 60 in another week or two with similar questions, in terms of difficulty. Once you reach 60 percent, then shoot for 80. The goal is always to understand those incorrect responses to better position yourself not to fall into similar traps on other questions. Whether idioms, a lack of clarity, or certain grammatical issues are getting you, with time and focused practice, you can break through.
Good luck with your studies. If you have further questions, you know where to ask.
