First GMAT Exam: 640 (Q34, V44) - Where to go from here?

Question

Hey guys,

I just took my first GMAT exam and the score was not what I was hoping for (I was aiming for something around 690-700). Obviously, the quantitative section is my knee of Achilles, and I'm planning to retake the exam in one month. How should I plan my study? I've already done most of the OG and Manhattan Prep and I was hoping for some suggestions!

Hello. Welcome to gmatclub and congrats on the verbal score. A quant score of 34 means that you need to solidify your knowledge of the concepts tested on the GMAT, as such I will recommend you try Target Test Prep. You can get their 5-day trial for just $1. I am not sure whether one can finish the course in one though but the course has all you need to get a great quant score. You can also check the reviews here on gmatclub.

Quant you can try TargetTestPrep or mathrevolution courses .

Infact there are many and almost all of them provide trial access .

You can check and decide which suites you best .

GMAT questions bank is no match any ways and it is free .

You can build skills via course and practice here if you need more practice

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. So, although I am unsure of your score goal, if you are trying to make a significant increase in your quant score, you likely will need more than just one month to do so.

In any case, in order to improve your quant skills, and thus your quant score, you need to ensure that you are following a linear and structured study plan that allows you to individually learn each quant topic and then practice each topic until you’ve gained mastery. I agree that, to study in this way, you should use Target Test Prep. If you can complete the course, in full, I have no doubt that you can knock GMAT quant out of the park on test day.

1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used besides the books that you mentioned?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs/mocks (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
