(E) had been priced to sell, and they have
Bunuel

Is this transcripted correctly -
automobile dealers in the area have cut prices

Let's do a quick POE-

E--> past perfect does not make sense as their is no other action in simple past

D---> are being priced to sell, and have ( they are selling or something should come but nothing in the previous statement makes sense )

C---->are priced to sell, and they do sell
Keep this

B---->are priced to sell, and they have ( what??)

A---->have been priced to sell, and they are ( selling?? But nothing of that sort is present in the previous part)

Looks like answer is C

Thank you = Kudos

(A) have been priced to sell, and they are

Use of present perfect here seems wrong. This is because we want to express a fact that pickup trucks are priced to sell. So using simple present would be apt

(B) are priced to sell, and they have

Like option A, we don't wanna use present perfect here. The intent is to express a fact. So second half of B is incorrect. Eliminate

(C) are priced to sell, and they do

Correct choice

(D) are being priced to sell, and have

Eliminate. use of "being" is incorrect here

(E) had been priced to sell, and they have

Eliminate. Past perfect is not required

MANHATTAN REVIEW OFFICIAL EXPLANATION:

Parallel structure demands agreement in verb tenses. The only option using the same tense throughout is C.
