Yes! This is one of the many updates made to the Quiz System.

Thank you gmatlover1010 for working on it so hard and getting it launched!

With this new version, we can simulate the verbal section by selecting the amount of passages?

The last time I did a RC quiz, I selected ~12 RC questions and got 12 passages.

Looks to be a great update for the quiz

Let me say, first, that I love the Forum Quiz option. It allows the user to custom design a set of study questions and draws from such a vast pool of questions and sources that the combinations are endless. The number of Verbal or Quant mocks alone that someone could create holds tremendous study potential.

That said, I have run into an issue while generating quizzes. I will report the issue through the appropriate form, but I would also like to do so here in case anyone else experiences the same. In short, I have been practicing official, non-GMAT Prep SC questions like a fiend for the past month or two, and lately, my quizzes have been limited to fewer than the number of questions I have designated. That is, I have kept the number of questions set at 10, but my last five quizzes have consisted of 6, 4, 4, 3, and 3 questions. Is the data scrubber not combing through my Error Log fast enough to generate a set of 10 questions? I would rather take two quizzes of 10 questions apiece than take five with so few questions in each.

I have the backend know-how of a Luddite, so I have no idea what may be going on, but I do see an issue, at least, and if it can be fixed, so much the better.

First off, thank you for using Forum Quiz. Always a pleasure to have GMATClub veterans take a look at the updates.

This problem you're facing truly is strange. May I ask if you've set any option filters like Unattempted Only or Mistakes only? I will try to recreate the case myself but just curious, has this happened to you on any other section? Say in CR or PS? I'll be glad to get in touch with you on PMs to smoke out this bug. If you can screen record the next time you try to run a quiz, even better!

Again, thanks for the report!

Hello, gmatlover1010. I find it highly probable that the reason I was getting mini-quizzes rather than the 10-question quizzes I was requesting is that I was running out of questions that fit my parameters:

  • Sentence Correction - 10 Questions
  • Difficulty - 500, 600, 700
  • Type - (none selected)
  • Unattempted Only
  • Sources - All Official Excluding GMAT Prep

Of course, now I get a new message: "INFORMATION... No questions found." I keep my own spreadsheet of official questions and have been doggedly working through it for over a month. I thought I had completed all the SC questions, so I kept generating sets through the Forum Quiz and adding them to my spreadsheet (if I felt they were likely official questions, rather than erroneously tagged as such). I find it strange that the program would have generated these mini-quizzes rather than doling out the final 20 questions as two 10-question quizzes, per my inputs.

Anyway, I have a long way to go before I exhaust any other types of questions, so this could be an ongoing dialogue. Thanks for following up.

Hi, This is a great tool bb

I have gotten the one week trial for this trial, and the trial end on 6th Jan. Will I have to pay the increased monthly fee or I will have to pay the discounted fee which is being provided right now!

Hi. You will be able to take advantage of the current discounted 9.99 price. As long as you start your trial before January 1, you will lock in the old price.

Is there a way to hide the timer? I just find it distracting if its right above the question stem.

thesip2323 Currently we make use of GMATClub's GMAT Timer for each question so that would be a little tricky. We can look into possibilities in the future. :)

I can see that… you can reduce the size of the timer to hide the stats but there is no week currently to hide it. The big numbers will stare right at you 😬

However, we haven’t heard any suggestions to hide the timer…. It would be a bit tricky to hide and then unhide to choose the answer choices. I guess we could shift it maybe or?

I know what I do when I practice questions through the regular forum: I hide question stats (for peace of mind), start the timer, then scroll down just enough for the timer to be offscreen at the top. Then, I can focus on the question and the question alone. When I am ready to answer, I scroll back up in a second and click. Perhaps adding a little space between the timer and question (or after the question) to allow for scrolling could be a simple fix, rather than reconfiguring anything in a major way. Just a thought.

This is exactly what I did when the question is in the format of a forum post but in the quiz format you can't scroll down to get it out of sight. I am one of those people who gets hung up on time so with it staring it at me in my face, I just get too distracted by its movements to focus on the question.

Anyway, not the end of the world. I suppose I just won't be timing myself or perhaps I could use a sticky note to cover it up in the meantime.

Kind of makes sense. I appreciate the recommendation and I think it is worth coming up with a simple and intuitive solution. I would be bothered by it as well.

Just to clarify, it is only the clock, right. Not the answer choices that present a challenge?

Correct - just the clock. Answer choices are fine, so no issues there.

Agreed. In fact, I prefer to see the answer choices alongside the passage or sentence (in SC questions) to better size up the information. Thank you for asking, bb.

Happy New Year.

Hey HouseAtreides !

Yes! If you save(or bookmark) the URL of the Quiz once it starts, you can reopen the same link to continue your quiz where you left off. Alternatively, you can pause your timer and just set aside the tab.

Let me know if you're facing any difficulty with it :)
