I have one question for choice (E).

For construction of the form -
[subject][verb][object]........ ;
[subject][verb][object].........

should n't the subject of the second independent clause must be same as/pronoun to the subject of the first independent clause ?
If so, subject of first independent clause - "Lancastrians" is not same as pronoun it[The Battle of Bosworth Field] .

Can you please help me eliminate Option E?

You know E is actually the correct answer right? (albeit this isn't a great question and if we are not being extremely picky, B can also be right)

When you have clause;clause, this doesn't necessarily mean the pronoun in the latter clause MUST refer to the subject. If it does, we have better parallelism.
The only thing this construction requires is some sort of link between the two clauses.

CORRECT: I like this girl; she's fairly interesting.
WRONG: I like this girl; the flowers on her head are endearing. (The relationship is way too weak here)

B isn't a run-on sentence. The original authors of this q seem to think that the passive voice makes B more convoluted, but I'm not sure how serious a problem that is.

Looking back, E also has some problems. By not placing a comma before "fought on 22 August," it almost seems like we are trying to narrow down *which* Battle of Bosworth Field we are talking about. We'd probably be better off saying "Field; fought on 22 August, 1485, it was . . . "

Exactly the reason why I eliminated E. Don't think this is a GMAT question. Plus, I was also not too sure about "it". Can anyone clarify how the usage of it is permissible and correctly refers to the battle?

the sentence would be :

read it now:

The Lancastrians won The Battle of Bosworth Field the civil war between the House of Lancaster and the House of York that raged across England in the latter half of the 15th century
there should be something in between Bosworth Field and the civil war

Other Problems: the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses modifies what? 1985 or civil war-not a good structure sentence, So better to stay away from D
