How does a school enter the top-ranked list of MBA schools? I am just wondering how they got the title.
There are different rankings with different metrics. I think all of them include average GMAT score, job placement, and post-MBA salary in the rankings. They usually also include GPA, recruiter assessments, peer assessments/reputation, or even alumni surveys. None are perfect, of course, but the rankings can give you an idea on classmate and professor quality while in school and job prospects after.
Brilliant! Thank you for this.
Poets & Quants wrote an in-depth pdf on rankings:
https://poetsandquants.com/wp-content/up ... ULLMAG.pdfIt seems like the most recent BusinessWeek ranking is skewed because it relies heavily on surveys, and they somehow were overly biased this year.
The Economist actually surveys alum, so you can get an idea of how happy students are - Chicago Booth, Dartmouth Tuck, UVA Darden, and Berkeley are the top 4 schools here, all ahead of HBS. They seem to "over perform" compared with other rankings.
US News is supposed to be the most reliable one.
