C is a defender type of assumption, which eliminates the possibilty that the cake was already when placed ni refrigerator.

Ok, but C does't tell us anything about how long has the cake already been in the refrigerator. Don't you guys find this a bit controversial? After all, the conclusion is that the cake is 7 days old. So we need to find out how old is the cake and this is why so many of us probably picked D.

Weird explanation.
