in verbal i got everything correct except 2 hard and 1 medium then why the score is 83 , in quant it it still very weak i only got 73 amd di is still a problem i got 76

can any one tell me with above

and why in verbal the score is 83 as starating 13 question were correct the 14 is medium which is worng and then 21 and 23 which were hard were wrong

You probably have to fix your basics, 73 in quant and 76 in DI means you still struggle with easy and medium questions.

Oops. Looks like I started typing up a message and never finished it. I agree, it is a bit harsh. I need to check with developers to pull logs unfortunately to see why this score went this way and i have not done that

I got some more details. This is because GMAT scoring is based on a percentile-like system. We take one the Test Results curve and overlay it with the GMAT scoring curve. V83 is 83rd percentile. V84 is 89th percentile. You got closer to 87-88th percentile on our scoring system but by our and GMAC rules if you have not crested the percentile cut off, the score is the lower one, and in this case the "calculation penalty" or "conversion penalty from percentiles to the Scoring is quite high - 6 points of difference between 83 and 89, so this is just an unlucky conversion situation where you scored higher but the system brought you down. (We have internally debated changing it a few times but then it starts pushing people up. Usually it works fine but in these high differential situations it does show its ugly head). Hope this helps and resolves this question.
