Hello Everyone...
Been taking a few CATs lately and I noticed something I did not expect and wanted to throw it up here to see if this is normal or what.
Can a "combined" score/%tile be greater than the sum of the parts?
I recently scored:
Quantitative 44 73 %
Verbal 36 81 %
Total 660 86 %
One would think I would have gotten a combined in the 77% range, and definitely between 73% and 81%.
My previous CAT was:
Quantitative 44 73 %
Verbal 26 44 %
Total 580 64 %
This total seems to "jive" better.
so yay for improvement but whats going on with the latest combined score?
Am I missing something?

Haha! makes sense. I guess I was not thinking about it clearly so late in the night. Makes sense though... as fewer people have "high" Q and V scores together, this should account for the discrepancy above.
