Thank you for joining, Let’s start the session

Here is first question .............. Age 34
BE Computer Science (2009 pass out)
MBA Finance from a top tier bschool in India (2013 passout)

Experience
10 years of post MBA experience in corporate banking credit analysis and relationship management. Countries worked include India (4 years), UAE (1.5 years), Kuwait (4 years), Oman (0.5 years). Current position Relationship Manager Large Corporates in an Omani bank.

Looking to move to US, UK with an MBA from an Ivy League College. Looking to specialise in Finance/Banking. Preferably 1 year full time mba.

Yet to take GMAT. Is it necessary given my experience. Request your inputs on target b schools/courses and GMAT score (if necessary). Would my age be an entry barrier:?

Thanks

Hi Ashwin! The majority of top business schools require GMAT (or GRE, with some accepting EA). For Top US schools, I would aim for a GMAT score of at least 730. I would also double-check that the schools will accept a candidate who has already completed an MBA. Age isn’t necessarily a barrier but you’ll want to make it clear in your application why now is the right time for an MBA

The schools you should target depend on your post-MBA goals, target geography, the culture you’re seeking in a school, and several other factors. I would need to learn more about your profile to assess what you could do to strengthen it. But your GPA and GMAT are quite strong, and it looks like you’ve had solid impact at work

Hi Vijay! For deferred MBA, I would aim for a minimum of 740 for GMAT, as those programs are extremely competitive

preferably even higher

A few examples of 1Y MBA programs are: Kellogg 1Y, Oxford, and Cambridge. Cornell and NYU also have 1Y tech MBAs

Given how competitive the process is for Indian male applicants, I suggest retaking GMAT. The schools you should target depend on your post-MBA goals, target geography, the culture you’re seeking in a school, and several other factors. Hi! Given how competitive the process is for Indian males, I do recommend expanding your search past the US Top 20/HEC. Other programs I would look into are UW Foster (strong in tech) and Mendoza

Yes, they do sometimes award merit scholarships (the higher ranked the school, the more competitive it is to get scholarships)

Hi guys, I’m starting my GMAT prep. As for my foundation, I have 7.5 band in IELTS Reading & 7.0 in Writing. How many months do you think I should prep before taking the GMAT exam? Especially in the Verbal and AWA. Thank you.

Exam studying time can vary, but most applicants need at least 2-3 months
