Has anyone considered the Gies iMBA? This is a fully accredited MBA degree from the University of Illinois. It is totally delivered on-line with no campus requirement. Also, there is no GMAT nor GRE requirement! The best part is the low cost: only $22,000! Students can begin taking credit classes before admission. These credits are transferable to the iMBA or any other university. MOOC classes and distance learning have received favorable reviews from Harvard Business Review and CNNMoney.
"We're catering to people who typically wouldn't be able to come into an MBA program at this stage in their life, but still need it to advance their careers," said Nikhil Sinha, the Chief Business Officer at Coursera. During a panel discussion, Dean Raj Echambadi stated that the mission of the Gies iMBA is to deliver high quality education at an affordable price. This is an effort to broaden the definition of an MBA degree, and to deliver a more meaningful business learning experience.
The website claims that there is no difference between the iMBA and the on-campus MBA. All transcripts and diplomas will state you studied at Urbana-Champaign. My transcript from The University of Maryland reflects a similar experience. While stationed with the USAF in Germany, I took several classes at the UM Frankfurt campus. My first transcript reflected this fact. Two years later, I received a letter and an updated transcript. The letter stated that some military students had encountered problems while transferring credits, especially to graduate programs. The problem was the location. My updated transcript now reads College Park, MD. No problems since, all transfer credits have been accepted w/o questions.
In a time of increasing e-commerce, world-wide acceptance of MOOC, leveraging information and knowledge in an increasingly flat world, the Gies iMBA makes a lot of sense and represents a tremendous return-on-investment.

Hi Guys, So I applied on April 10th interviewed on April 19th. I saw from the board posts that the R3 acceptance is on May 10th. It's May 14th already and I have not got any email. Does this mean I get rejected or waitlisted? Should I ask the admissions team? Should I make another application? Have you guys experienced this before? Please let me know since my application status is still "Awaiting Decision".
Congratulations to everyone accepted as of late, very happy for you all. I am planning on submitting my application for Spring 2020, I am curious to how many of you submitted GMAT/GRE scores since it is optional.

I am a working professional here in Singapore and am planning to apply for iMBA. As I graduated 10 years ago from the Philippines, where English is not the primary language, would you know whether I need to take IELTS?

I know I'm late to the party, but I appreciate all the info you guys have been posting, it's helped a lot.
I submitted my application on May 16 and as of today (May 24) I have 2/3 recommendations submitted. They just emailed for an interview which I scheduled for June 13th . Very excited and anxious, also hoping that 3rd recommendation doesn't throw off anything.
Good luck to any late applicants in the same situation, and keep the thread alive . . . we're not all celebrating just yet.

I'm in the same boat here and have my interview on the 14th. I also only have two recommendation letters submitted. I am just curious whether other applicants had similar situation and got admitted without the third recommendation letter.
Hello. I'm new to the forum and have been reading this string from last year. I was wondering if anyone applied without taking a GMAT. I also have a lower than 3.0 GPA. Did anyone apply with a low GPA and get accepted?

I haven't taken the GMAT, but my undergrad GPA was 3.1 ish. I know that's not too great, but I was working full time and had other things going on.
Update: I think my interview went well, and most of my questions were addressed, now I'm just anxiously waiting. I was told decisions would be in by tomorrow (6/21) but I've also heard some didn't hear back until the following Sunday which would be 6/23.
Any of you 4th rounders got your decisions yet? The anticipation is killing me . . .
