Because the maximum value of x is 3 and the maximum value of y is 7 (as y<8), the maximum value of xy is 21. Therefore it cannot be 24

It can be possible when x=2,5 and y=6,4 which is why they do not mention that x and y have to be integers

Now check the options , all the options except (E) falls within the given range, answer must be (E)
