Hi khushbuanand10,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Did you take the At-home GMAT or did you take your GMAT at a Test Facility?
2) How many hours did you typically study each week?
3) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hi All,

I am really hoping for different perspectives here. I have been preparing for GMAT for 2 months now. I am a non native speaker and no quant background as well. But was always in the top 5% in my class.

I put my work aside for the last one month and only focused on gmat day in and day out. Today was my exam. I scored a disappointing 650 Q 49 V 30!

- Gmat official mocks
660
710
720
730

I felt very rushed in the verbal section - saw the timer at 30 minute mark and i was only at question 16. this is where I panicked! I half guessed few questions and could feel my heart racing and losing all calm.

I know I do not perform well under immense pressure and this has honestly been my biggest challenge.

But there is definitely something wrong with my concepts and learning as well. Though without a breakdown of cr sc and rc - i am clueless about what really went wrong in the actual exam.

More details about my prep
My quant score has always been in the range 49-50. My lowest verbal score was 34 and I even hit 39 in my last one. I have used OG 2021 along with multiple 700+ level questions from gmatclub (limited to only og or verbal/quant review). For quant, I have used Target test prep.

I have cancelled my score. As a retake, I aiming for a 730+ which is a significant jump.

Anxiety and the associated rushed feeling are serious test killers. I dropped massively as well because if them. The trick is to be aware of it and voluntarily snap out of it.
If you can, take the test online in the same environment in which you gave your mocks. Also share your ESR and we can help.

Thanks Scott. My question here is not so much for quant but for verbal due to the extremely low score. And I only used TTP for quant.

I don't have access to my account anymore as I used it at the beginning of my prep - I remember going through all concepts along with chapter wise tests (medium and few hard ones). My accuracy in medium tests was in the range of 70-85% and in hard tests 60-75%.

So, you have yet to see our SC and CR materials?

What material did you use for Verbal Khushbu?

Also, if wilting under pressure was to be your issue, it would have reflected in your Quant score as well.

p.s. You can edit your original post and "attach" the ESR.

Hi Khushbu,

Earlier this week, I sent you a PM with an analysis of your ESR and some additional questions. Have you had a chance to read through that PM yet?
