I have attempted the GMAT online exam twice, once in June(670, Q47 V35) and then in September(650 Q47 V33).
In June, I solved OG 2022 end-to-end, and hard problems from Quantitative review. In the last two official mocks before the actual exam, I got a 680 & 690.
I took a break after that and then got back in the groove in mid-August, with the exam scheduled for mid-Sep. Used e-gmat subscription but I dropped it because it is very expansive, and almost impossible to complete in 30 days. Hence I mainly relied on quant problems from GMATClub (took the classic subscription) and solved all questions from Verbal review. The last few days before the exam I took GMATClub Quant CATs daily and my score hovered between 39-47. I had two official mocks which I took and scored 690(Q47 V38) and 710(Q49 V36) - I was confident of scoring 49+ in quant.
On test day(today), I ended up with a 650(Q47 V33)
I found the verbal RC passage to be very tough, one was 750+ level, and RC being my strongest suite, I was demotivated. I am guessing the incorrect RC answers are what pulled down my score.
I am now in a fix, with R1 deadlines fast approaching I have the following options:
1. Apply to schools that have a test waiver, but I am from India with a technical background, what are my chances? (do you suggest this route?)
2. Take the GMAT Focus - I have an IR7, and my weakest suite is SC - so Focus Edition is better suited for me.
3. Re-take the GMAT with a few weeks of prep. I am mentally exhausted and do not want to re-take this exam now.
4. Take the GRE - might be better for me? I do not have an idea of the GRE exam structure though.
What would be the best path forward considering that I want to apply for my top target schools in mid-October?
