JewelWeed = Smooth-edged, Single leaves, Translucent, Juicy Stem, found near water(Soggy)

Prevents Rash if applied quickly after poisoning

Aloe Vera =Thick, Succulent leaves, clear viscous gel, Found in dry (Arid Conditions)

Soothes Rash after it appears.

Hikers first priority is to prevent rash, second priority is to soothe rash

From the above information, if Jewelweed is applied immediately it prevents rash, and if aloe vera is applied after a few days(If rash Appears)

From the options, 4th options is best for first priority as it applies Jewel Weed in an hour after poisoning

3rd option is best for second priority as it soothes the rash (if it appears) after a few days (4 in this case)

Trail Guide: The Poison Oak plant features a "leaves of three" pattern with a notched or lobed edge; skin contact with its oils usually results in a persistent, itchy rash that forms within one to three days and often lasts for over a week. If a plant has smooth-edged, single leaves, it may be either Jewelweed or Aloe Vera, each of which has healing properties. Jewelweed neutralizes Poison Oak oils, preventing a rash if applied quickly. In contrast, Aloe Vera is used to soothe a rash only after it appears. Aloe Vera thrives in arid, sandy soil, while Jewelweed is found only in soggy soil near streams. The leaves of Aloe Vera are thick, succulent, and contain a clear, viscous gel. Jewelweed has a translucent, juicy stem and orange, horn-shaped flowers.

On the first day of a ten-day backpacking trip, a hiker comes into contact with Poison Oak. Based on the information above, if the hiker’s priorities are to first prevent a rash, and then to soothe irritation if needed, which of the following plants would be most effective in achieving those goals?

First Priority (prevent the rash): D

* Smooth-edged leaves + translucent juicy stem + found near a stream = Jewelweed.
* Jewelweed prevents a Poison Oak rash if applied quickly.
* This plant is found only 1 hour after contact, making it the best choice for prevention.

Second Priority (soothe irritation): C

* Thick, succulent leaves with clear gel + dry, sandy soil = Aloe Vera.
* Aloe Vera is used after a rash appears to soothe irritation. Since the rash usually appears within 1 to 3 days, finding Aloe Vera 4 days later makes it the best option for the second priority.

Answer:
First Priority: D
Second Priority: C
