Guys help me out...

Just came out of giving my GMAT scored meager 600 (45 Q 27 V), I was expecting a score of atleast 680+.
GMAT prep I (48Q, 35V) 670
GMAT prrp II (49Q 36V) 700

always thought I can score more, but feeling like big time loser now. Have been preparing for the test since last 2 months, referred OG, Manhattan SC, OG verbal review.

I am a chartered accountant (CPA in US), work ex of 4 years plus, was among the top 20 students in my CA all over the country. Earning very decent salary (around $50K) in India, wanted to only top 5 B school in US. Now feeling that is not at all achievable.

thinking of giving up MBA as an option... was sure that my application could stand of the IT people but now there are no chances....

Hi inder, welcome to gmat club!!

Sad to know about your your low score. It must be your bad day. :(

But, a CA is not supposed to lose heart  Its surprising to see a huge variance in your gmat prep & official score. Any how, I will ask you to go through the link above for retaking gmat. There are stories where people have jumped from 580 to 730. Just a firm commitment is required.
Check out Knewton as they give a 50 point money back guarantee. You can also have a look at Veritas or MGMAT complete set of guides.

BTW, I am a cost & management accountant CMA. :)

Best of luck & keep us posted.

Its just your bad day. The scores were in sync with your GMAT Prep. Concentrate on your verbal and take your GMAT again, am sure you will succeed..

Work on that verbal, you are a non native speaker it seems. You may have to put more effort into verbal.

Thanks,

Inderkalra,

One thing that I can conclude from your post is that you are a very confident guy which then can make you feel easily down as well when facing the bad result.
Certain dose of confidence is needed in our life but overconfidence sometimes can kill / ruin your life.
My advise is to prepare harder and to expect the GMAT score to be lower than the prep GMAT tests ( which is normal ).
That's my 2 cents

Yes I know that my day was bad and I need to work on verbal....but the exam doesn't seems that tough and I was scoring more than 90% on CR and around 80% in RC, though SC was a lag but that was also recovering....but quant score also took me by surprise, may be some DS questions were more tricky than i thought, never seen such low quant score in the prep test....

Thank you guys again, will make mind regarding the re-test in day or two....not sure right know but I know my weakness pretty well now.....

Thank you again....(though this is my first post but I am daily visitor of the Gmat Club and that helped lot in tackling SC)

error logs is key. Also, the scoring is weird so it doesnt follow percentage so dont dwell on "90% cr" etc. since if you answer the vital ques wrong the number right wont matter

Personally, I think you can improve your score. Just take a well structured course or prepare using a strategy from the GMAT Forum and I am sure you'll be able to do better.
