Hi Everyone,

Just wanted an opinion if you have taken the first 2 official focus mocks, I gave both of them and found them pretty easy as compared to an official classic exam I gave. I just wanted to know is the difficulty of the official mock actually easy? Gmat is known for notorious hard exams, hence wanted to know if the difficulty level is the same as an official test?

I got a 90 percentile plus on my verbal in both mocks but have not crossed a 70 percentile in 2 of my previous classic attempts. SC was my weak point but still can removal of one topic increase the score this much? I don’t think so.

Any inputs will be appreciated as I am planning to write the focus and don’t want to make hasty decisions based on my score on easy exams.

My experience was that the mocks were pretty close to the actual thing. But I also personally thought Mock 1-2 was easier compare to Mocks 3-6, when I reviewed all my mocks before the official exam. Could also just be I was more prepared with more practice when I came back to these mocks...

Hi YB10,

As has been said, the official mocks are quite accurate in terms of the difficulty of the real GFE. So, you seem to be in a very nice spot!

I actually evaluated the score range of the questions in each mock. 1 and 2 are clearly the easier tests. I believe I had in each section 3-4 hard questions and none of the experimental type of questions. In mock 4, I had in total 5x 805+ questions, 12/20 hard questions in DI, 7/21 in Quant and 12/23 in Verbal. So there are clear differences. It's probably meant to prepare you for the real thing by gradually enhancing the difficulty.

Hi SergejK,

The official practice tests don't include experimental questions, but did you improve between test 1-2 and test 4? If you did, that may explain why you think you saw more high-difficulty questions in practice test 4 (because these are adaptive tests).

It's not just a subjective opinion. I feel that GMAT Club score ranges are pretty accurate. I used their score ranges as the basis. And based on their assessment there were couple of 805+ questions, more in later mocks, while none in the first 2 – at least I didn't get them wrong and I don't think I was that good back then that I got them all correct. I started of with only 4 questions that I got wrong in verbal in mock 1 at the first try. I am getting there now in the latest mocks. In total, in regard to accuracy mock 1 was almost the best try. Now, the second time around I had my best try at mock 4 and have 2 mocks to go until I write end of October. I even evaluated the questions I got wrong. And my latest average in those questions was around 700 in mock 4, whereas it was at just 600 in my first mock. So yeah, objectively and subjectively the questions are tougher in later tries.
