Hi,
I am currently working on the GMAT grammar book. I don't quite understand the need of "had" in the statement below.
This sentence is an example of Future Perfect tense.
My parents will have had three children after this baby is born.
why isn't have sufficient?

Hi,
My parents will have had three children after this baby is born.
this sentence means that after this baby is born, the total number of children will become 3
My parents will have three children after this baby is born
the meaning here changes , it can mean that my parents will have three more children after this baby is born..
