Hi…im able to achieve 100% accuracy on easy percent problems but 70% on medium ones (555-605) how should i go about this? Currently im trying to check videos on magoosh for any shortcuts for the same..should i just park this and move on for other topics & come back to improve later?
Have you maintained the error log? If yes then write in detail where and why you faltered. There is nothing like careless mistake...its in myth in my opinion because when we say careless we build a mentality that this will not happen next time but eventually we again find that some wrong answer again because of that. So ask these question- did you know the concept? Did you faltered at process? If there is more time given were you able to solve this? If yes then how can you minimise the process.

Learning tricks is good but it will not help every time better to develop a grip on concept and approach on different type of problem.

Error log is most important thing if filled religiously

As an working professional allocate daily 1.5 to 2 hrs.. its ok to cover 1 section in one day...if you have weekend off allot more time in this 2 day and create plan that suits you...everyone has there own pace....

Do less questions but ensure that you are doing quality ones . Use streak method for CR. Like per topic solve 10-15 question in a streak and then see where and why are you making those mistakes.

For reference, how many questions should I have completed roughly in a quants topic before moving on to the next one? Like a baseline?

555-605 -15 question in a streak (100 percent accuracy) within 2 to max 2:30 min
Then 605-655 -15 question ( same timing and accuracy)
655-705 - 15 question ( same accuracy but you can afford 3 min here for some question)
705-805 - 15 question ( 85-100 percent accuracy)

> My tip for folks working on accuracy or careless mistakes is to double down on the streak method, it’s really helpful for improving concentration and avoiding silly errors. And for those working on timing, try cutting your time on easy questions to around 1-1.5 minutes so you can manage time better for the tougher ones.
I am able to achieve good speed at quant. Quant is also my strongest section. But at the same time, I am struggling with time management in DI. It is not that I am not able to solve the questions. But dividing time across the section efficiently is proving to be quite difficult...
My approach was to break down time management at a more granular level rather than just following the standard 2-minute pattern or strictly going by difficulty level. For example, my strengths were DS and G&T, so I usually tried to solve those within 1-1.5 mins. That helped me cumulatively save a few extra mins which I could then use for MSR and TPA. So try to identify those time savers in your case and see if that helps.

Can you please give an example of using the streak method referred ? Somewhat confused - More and more questions in one sitting? Number of continuous correct questions is a streak ?
It refers to the number of continuous correct questions you solve in a single sitting. The larger the streak, the higher the accuracy you’re likely to reach in that topic at that difficulty level. From my observation, if you can reach a streak of around 20, you are generally in a good position to move to the next topic/difficulty.

Hi Harsh, is the streak for 20 for medium level questions or hard ones? Hard as in 655+ on gmatclub.

Just to add to what Sanskar mentioned, there are two approaches that are predominantly helpful: the accuracy percentage method and the streak method. In the accuracy % approach, let’s say you are planning to solve a set of 50 questions. The target should be around 90% accuracy for easy, 80–85% for medium, and 70–80% for hard questions. In the streak method, the goal is to solve questions correctly in a sequence until you reach a certain threshold. Generally, the target is around 20 for easy, 15-17 for medium, and 10-12 for hard. Once you reach that, you can move on to the next topic

This is again subjective to your target score. I shared the general benchmarks that are relevant for folks aiming for the 90th percentile and above. You can increase or decrease the threshold accordingly based on your target.

Also try to focus on accuracy first, and timing will automatically follow. So whichever way you practice, start untimed to build confidence, even true for the streak method. You will automatically see time improvement once you get the hang of the topic.

So this question is asking to find remainder.

At first glance this look like so much big number, but you are aware with concept it will be easy.

Divide each term by 13
25/13 ×(1331/13)^2196

Try to bring the numerator as 1 or -1

25 can be written an 26-1

So dividing 26/13-1/13 we get remainder as -1 since -1 cant be the remainder we add 13 which will become 12

Now other term 1331 can be written as 1326+5

Dividing by 13 will give 1326/13+5/13=5

Apply the power 2196-> (5/13)^2196=(25/13)^1098

We already found diving 25 by 13 will give -1 as remainder since the power is even , -1 will change to 1

Multiply both the remainder it will give 12 as remainder
