I’ve generally been strong in Verbal and DI (consistently around the 85-95th percentile on mocks), but on test day my DI dropped to the 62nd percentile — probably just an off day.

Looking ahead, I plan to retake in early November and want to sharpen my Quant.

One thing that may help a bit/you can consider is including working with a study buddy who is strong on Quant. If you can find one who needs help with Verbal, that could be a good fit for both of you. There's a study buddy thread on gmatclub you could check out/sign up to.

Missing Q1 and Q3 was the key issue. You can do better next time by focusing on avoiding this mistake. Good luck.

First advice right away is to double/triple check the question statement and answers for the beginning questions. This would not harm you a lot since you had plenty of time left in the section, and getting beginning questions wrong would impact your score more.

That being said, spending a lot of time in the beginning questions might make you slow down entirely, which could eventually lead to no time towards the end of the section.

I faced a similar issue, my way out was to double check the question and answer for the beginning questions, with a conscious effort to not overly slow down in the rest of the section
