Hi, i have a question ?
I'm going to take the GMAT the 22 of February. By mistake I bought the 12th version of the GMAT OG , now one month is missing from the exam and I have no time to buy another book and study it again. Someone know if that book , even if is an old version, is good for my preparation ? (I already know that is missing the IR section)

Hi lacaca,

While the 12th Edition of the Official Guide is an older book, most of the material is still relevant - meaning that the concepts, patterns, Tactics, etc. that you would need to handle the questions in that book are the same general knowledge and skills that you will need for the current iteration of the Official GMAT.

In your post, you stated that your Test Date was February 22nd (which is a little over 1 week from now), but it's not clear how 'ready' you feel to take the GMAT. If you are not close to your Goal Score yet, then you still have time to push back your Test Date.

1) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs/mocks (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
2) What is your Goal Score?

Hi lacaca,

The subsequent versions have some new questions. You can go through new questions of the subsequent editions here (usually denoted with *):

Hope this helps!

The official guides are just collections of questions, so studying from them may not be the most efficient way to go about your prep. That said, the 12th edition can still be used. You don't need to get one of the newer editions.

Hi lacaca,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. So, you will not be at a disadvantage by using an older version of the Official Guide. That said, I see that your test is in only one week; have you taken any recent practice exams to get an updated score? What is your score goal and when are your application deadlines?

Feel free to reach out with further questions. Good luck!
