This is the first I have heard of this wormhole effect, and it is good to know that the problem seems to be occurring on all tests. I know that GMAC™ is switching over to the new interface permanently by the end of February; I imagine the testing program will be a little buggy during the transition. Are you using the new interface, LewsTherinTelemon and Aditim12? I wonder if this is only an issue under such circumstances. (There was an earlier problem with mocks 3 and 4 crashing mid-exam, but only on the new interface.)

I am using the new platform, they are forcing us to use the new platform for tests 3-6

I’m only aware of 1 platform so it must be the new one 😅 I faced this issue in The free Practice 1 and 2. I have not bought 3and4 practice exams.

It's unfortunate since even if GMAC resets those tests for you, you may see a few repeat questions that "poison" the experience of a Mock.

One thing you may want to consider is bringing this up with GMAC and asking for something in the way of compensation. Perhaps a small voucher to take the GMAT itself later on. Explain that resetting the Mock is sort of meaningless since you've "kind of seen part of the movie already".

It would also be a good idea to figure out exactly what caused this issue before taking another Official Mock. The last thing you want is a repeat of this messing another "1 of the 6".

Sorry about the issue. This is new. I have not run into this one in the past. I do have a whole topic dedicated to problems with GMAT prep but usually they involve a test getting stuck. In that case, you get no score, and no option except to bail out.

I’m not sure if this is a better situation but it just seems different. It’s definitely a pity that this is happening with the new platform since I really can’t figure out why we had to upgrade when the old platform was working just fine. I also cannot figure out why the old platform was decommissioned so quickly either. At least you can take your test one and two on the old platform for now until the end of February.

I don’t have any words of wisdom about how to handle this situation. 😢

A tip for anyone who is facing this issue,
I wrote down number 1-36 on a paper, and during exam I am striking off a number after solving a question. So I will always know how many questions I have solved at that point of time.
Hope this helps.

That is sad in and of itself. Perhaps this issue will be sorted out soon. Thank you for the response, bb.

Thank you for proposing a workable action, LewsTherinTelamon. Even if you can reset the exam, though, you will be tossed different questions, presumably. I agree with GmatTutorKnight that you should reach out to GMAC™ to request some sort of compensation, since you can reset mocks 3-6 just once. While reimbursement may not be likely, an extra reset or a voucher for something seems fair.

Good luck.

Hi LewsTherinTelamon,

Did you get all of this sorted out?
Nope, I wrote an email on 18th and dint get a response yet, My main GMAT is scheduled on 24th, And yesterday, the server was down, so dint get to even take the exam,
I will try to take an exam today, with the workaround I mentioned above, (witing down numbers 1-31 and striking of each number as I submit an answer). Will let you know if the issue is reproduced again.

Cheers,

Hi, I think that I've found the reason for the error in question numbers. This is GMAT's new style.
This is what is said in the tutorial before the practice exam: Just below the time remaining, you will see 1 of 10. This indicates that you are viewing the first of 10 questions or screens.

I have no idea why they thought this would be a good idea. Someone please let me know if this happens in the official exam as well. thanks!

EDIT: nevermind, just took the free practice exam and I'm still facing the same problem of shuffled numbers.
GMAC platform is not even showing remaining Qs in their own format ('1 out 10' question)
on my last Q (which I didn't even know was the last one) it showed 3 out of 31.

Hi,

My GMAT prep tests are not visible after the platform migrated to new platform.

I purchased GMAT prep test 3,4,5&6 from a vendor and activated the tests and even used 3&4, I planned to use them this month, as validity was until the 5th of April

I contacted the GMAC about the issue, but they are asking to contact the vendor, who, it seems, has closed his shop.

Is anyone else facing the issue? or can anyone guide me as to what can be done? Any help is appreciated.

Hi luke2021,

They would have sent an email with the (replacement) codes for the new platform to the ID associated with your account. Can you access that email ID? If you used your own account to activate the codes, you could also request replacement codes by sending them an email at gmatofficialprep@mba.com and store@mba.com.

hi AjiteshArun

Thank you for the suggestion.

I mailed gmac many times. And they want me to connect with vendor for new codes and GMAC cannot issue me new codes on behalf of vendor. The vendor doesn't exist anymore, I am not sure what to do now.

I have mailed GMAC again. I do not have high hopes now.
