I am confused about choosing the GMAT OG. Should I go ahead with 2018 edition or 2017?
Based on some reviews I have seen online, the number of hard questions especially in Quants are less in the OG 2018. Or should I go with the much older versions? (the 12th edition)

You should always buy the latest one.
Plus, all of the questions are on the Gmat-club (OG directory).
So, it does not really matter which one you buy. You can solve each one of them (with a GMAT-club timer alongside) for free.

GO for the 2018 one.

It doesn't really matter as the test hasn't changed in the last 6 years. You can probably find better bargains for earlier editions. Anything after the OG 2012 (when the IR section was introduced) should be fine.

There is a rumor that the older editions have slightly harder questions overall, but difficulty is subjective, and I personally haven't found that to be the case. I think that GMAT Club members might just be getting better at taking the GMAT.
