Fantastic job! Thank you for posting this experience!
Many people feel the test was "easy" and they did well but in reality they get a low score whereas some people think the test was hard and their score was terrible (but in reality they get a high score).

Anything in particular you have used to prep? V46 is a killer score! (it is also very rare one, I have seen a lot of V45 and V47 but not V46). Thank you for verifying the score!
Thank you!

For the Verbal section, the main challenge was nailing Sentence Correction, since I already felt comfortable with Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning. For those last two, I mostly took the practice exams (I bought the GMAT official practice exams 3-6) and reviewed my mistakes thoroughly.

On my first practice exam, I must have got more than half of the SC questions wrong. I didn't really understand the format (I initially thought that the alternative A was incorrect by default) and wasn't familiar at all with the GMAT English 'style'. After reviewing my performance, I settled on:

  • Studying the theory to get a deep understanding of the format and GMAT English. The Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction guide was an invaluable resource for this.
  • Focusing on official practice questions and explanations for answers. I suggest completing the SC questions on the Official Guide and Verbal Review.
  • Focusing on the hardest questions. The only problem is that the OG and VR have far more easy questions than hard ones, so you will have to look for compilations, many of which deviate from the official questions.
  • Reviewing all practice questions thoroughly. This means both reading the official explanation for the all the questions, even the ones you got right, as you may have got them right on chance, and reflecting on what you missed and on how you could change your strategy to improve your chances in the future.

Hi Cyboogie. Thanks for the debrief. Congratz on the score!

It seems that you didn't have much problem to reach that score. In what do you work and what's your background?

Best of luck!

My background is in Electronics Engineering, so the Quant part was much easier than the Verbal for me, I just had to get the timing right and get used to the questions format.

I work in management consulting.
