I took the pics from my laptop cam only. Kept the phone far away as I didn’t want it to be anywhere near to raise the slightest of doubts.

I kept the table clean and covered a nearby bookshelf with a sheet. That seemed to do the trick.

For the whiteboard, i kept it flat on table as I prefer that, but dont think they wont allow you to keep it on your lap

The checkin went pretty smoothly, only had to show a clean whiteboard before start and the ID apart from the pics

Quite cool. Thanks for answering. Can you tell me more about the checking formalities? Do you keep your phone in the same room after the pics are uploaded? Can you keep the whiteboard on your lap/propped up against the table? Or do we keep the whiteboard flat on the desk?

Also the room has a bit of clutter. Does this matter? Is it fine as long as the desk is empty enough?

I am from India and I took it yesterday night 12.45 AM. I am more of a night person and so this timeslot suited me perfectly. Also didn't face any difficulty while taking the test. Logged in half an hour before @12.15AM and a proctor was allocated almost immediately. I was even able to start the exam a bit ahead of schedule after completing the checkin formalities. Pros - No one at home awake to cause any distraction, WiFi speeds are higher at night with fewer devices connected too.

Bjartskular
Did anyone take the GMAT Online at night? I am planning to book a night slot as my family would be asleep and hence there will be fewer distractions. If anyone has taken it at night, how is the availability of the slots? How was the experience?

As I am from India if anyone from here can respond it will be helpful. (Or do I create a separate thread for this?)

Thanks in advance.

The electricity near my home gets cut if there are heavy rains. And this being the rainy season, there are some power issues. If there is a power cut and hence internet loss during the test, does the test get continued? I am planning on keeping my mobile internet as backup in such cases so the internet can get switched easily. But this might take 1-2 minutes. Is this okay?

fine tip dry erase markers are not easily available in India, and I'm talking metro city- Mumbai. Thanks to Covid, our lockdown has barely opened. And we mostly have fat markers.

Why would you take such a big risk? I would recommend rescheduling the exam in case you feel it will rain. I read somewhere that rescheduling the exam has been made free of cost.
In case your luck is bad, and it just starts to rain all of a sudden and your internet stops working, I am pretty sure they would cancel your exam.

Hello! A question specifically for Indian test-takers - has anyone used an ID other than the Passport for the GMAT Online? I understand that in India passport is the only acceptable form of ID for center-based GMAT, but I have left my Passport in a different town and cannot travel right now because of travel restrictions. Though I have checked this with GMAC and they have confirmed that I can also use my Driver's License/National Identification Card for GMAT Online, but I am concerned about proctors creating an issue at the time of the test.

I think they specifically mentioned no to using mobile hotspots. Just check the requirements once, i maybe wrong. But otherwise i have read that they have the capacity to ensure that the test continues from where it gets disconnected in most of the cases

Ideally you would get a dry erase marker with a fine tip. A fine tip will allow you more efficient use and better writing and less frustration and likely more accuracy. I would spend and extra $1 or 5 to get a fine tip marker.

Posted from my mobile device

I have bought quite a few erase markers from Amazon so far. But I do not think their tips are fine enough. Could anyone recommend one or two genuine fine-tip erases?

Thanks!

I just ordered these to test them out: Ultra Fine Tip (I think you actually want better than just Fine tip based on the gradation)

Can anyone, who've had their test cancelled because of the proctor not showing up or some other reason, share their experience of re-booking?
I've created a case with PearsonVue on their help page and also with GMAC but it's been 4 days now and I haven't got any email or communication from either of their sides.

The method of connection does not matter and they will not know how you connected. What matters is that you pass the check.

If the cam gets interrupted, and you lose the connection there is a good chance you will have to reschedule. Keep that in mind. You may want to do the whole test on the hotspot if you think there is a decent chance of an outage.

Thanks for sharing. I posted some of the exerpts from this topic specific to the physical whiteboard here:
https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-online- ... 26678.html

P.S. I did notice that the ultra-fine tip degrades over time or perhaps just fills with ink and becomes a thicker line but still acceptable and much much better than the classic tip marker. I also compared it to the Staedtler non-permanent one and it is close, though not quite as thin.
