And the answer to which one is the best, of course is — it depends. Most people agree that its good to keep one test till the end of the preparation process to use it as an accurate estimator of the GMAT score. Though some people recommend to take it more than two times... one or two extra times in order to get new questions. But if you ever want to take GMAT Prep more then twice here is how to do it: GMAT Prep "Reset" - Reinstall 1.Go to C:\Program Files\GMATPrep\Exams 2.Within the Exams folder, you should see a Practice Test 1.log and a Practice Test 2.log 3.Delete or I'd say move to other location both logs* 4.Relaunch the GMAT Prep software, and it should show you that both practice exams are now Not Attempted, and you can take them again. GMAT Prep "Reset" - Reinstall in Windows Vista (Special thanks: to bigoyal for researching this) 1. Basically same as above only GMATPrep creates folder in following location: C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\GMATPrep\exams Note: {user_name} is your user name, it will vary from system to system 2. Usually you can go directly to AppData folder by typing in "%appdata" - in explorer window 3. Make sure explorer shows hidden files Feedback from GMAT Club Members: - Quant question pool is larger than verbal pool; if you take tests multiple times, the chances of seeing new question are higher for the Math section. - Question pool for “hard” questions is fairly small and chances of seeing new questions when you get to 750+ score range is small. - AWA questions are static and do not change *To learn about GMATPrep Log files and how to read them, please see a post directly below 5. Want 2 more adaptive tests? Use PowerPrep PowerPrep is the previous version of GMATPrep developed by ETS. This software product is no longer supported by GMAC and no longer distributed, but we have a copy. It uses the older GMAT interface and potentially an older GMAT algorithm. Here are a few considerations about using PowerPrep. 1.There seems to be no question overlap between GMAT Prep, and Powerprep 2.There is, however, a significant overlap between OG and Powerprep, so if you already worked on OG, your score might be significantly inflated 3.There are reports that PowerPrep isn't truly adaptive and not as good of an indicator of performance on the real GMAT. I've tried installing GMAT prep v 2005 on two different computers. The file downloads just fine...but when I try to run the .EXE set up file...nothing happens. Has anyone else encountered this issue? will appreciate constructive and prompt feedback. thank you!

You should set compatibility settings on this file to be windows 2000 or windows Xp.
It runs fine on my windows 7

Can you please tell me how to set this compatibility settings? Where do I turn it on? The powerprep available on this website should be installed in another folder from GMATprep? Do they conflict? I already have GMATprep installed and wanted to know how to get powerprep going.. I am continuing the discussion you just replied to earlier..Thanks

If you can help me here.. I installed powerprep and even asked it to run in compatibility mode (xp).. Yet I get the same message - something about mismatch in version.. x 86 etc.. Can you tell me what might need done here? Thanks

Hello ppl, Is there any way to review the essays submitted in the GmatPrep practice tests? The review screen at the end of the test shows only quant and verbal questions.

what operating system are you using? mac, xp,linux etc? A stretch but can you check maybe your firewall *might* be blocking it someway? Also, if you are using windows 7 maybe check compatibility ?

I don't think there is a mac version out, but you can use parallels or vmware to run an instance of windows to run it.

I gave powerprep today and I was unable to concentrate in the verbal section. The interface was so irritating that I was not even able to answer the questions I had already done on OG12 and Og verbal2.

I got terrible score in verbal and I m really :cry:

.

Guys those who have done this powerprep, kindly share your thoughts. Its really de-motivating.

I will give gmatprep in a couple of days to judge my level, but I seriously thought that powerprep will be a good supplement to build the stamina and confidence.

Though I haven't taken the CAT from powerprep but I have installed it on my laptop, it changed my whole graphics! It looks terrible!! Also I don't think it will have correct algorithm that is working at present, so it would be better for you to take gmatprep and access where you stands right now.

I installed it for the same reasons mentioned by you

I m not concerned with the algo, but I have seen people scoring high on powerprep. So I felt disappointed.

A big overlap with the og's and still I was feeling dizzy.
The interface is so weired that I m having headache now.

I will give gmatprep in a day or two. :lol:

I have always advised others to give gmatprep on time, but I myself havn't given one because of fear for verbal.

But you should at least give one gmatprep now, as ideally by reinstalling we can get 4 tests with fewer overlaps.
I m also planning to give soon...lets see...I have dropped my plan for powerprep.

Only Gmatprep and mgmat Cat's.

I have one concern regarding the pool banks for two tests. If someone can confirm whether they have different or same pools, it will be very helpful to plan further.

Well, those scores can't be trusted

That's as far as I can go with that info - it is really impossible to judge... sorry. if you want to see your worst case scenario, take 15 percentile points (not points but percentile points) off your score, assuming you would get half of these wrong or not finished at all.
