Quitting work to prepare gmat is a bad idea
It’s subjective and not universal. Some jobs demand alot of time, and it’s not possible to dedicate a good 2-3 hrs daily to Gmat. The hurdle becomes even greater when you struggle fundamentally in quants, then preparing for gmat consumes a lot of time. If you are already good at quants and doing pretty decently in mocks overall, then you may be able to pull it off alongside your job, but if the concepts are not clear, you will need time to build on the basics and ensure to do good on the exam eventually. Gmat’s a marathon, it requires to be consistent along the path and long gaps between study sessions can cost a lot in terms of your preparation and ability to solve questions time efficiently. Bottomline is that if you have the luxury to quit the job and quite confident that you can pull off the exam with no job burden there, or you know that your job role and leaves you with little to no consistent study time, preparing alongside it may not be realistic, then stepping aside from your profession for a while could be a practical and strategic decision.
