Your answer is saved.
So, for the last question, before you even read the question, click any of the answer choices first just should you run out of time.

The penalty for leaving a question unanswered is 3 percentile points for the section, which is very steep!

Hi BB i checked on GMATPREP it does not accept the last answer choice if you haven't confirmed that. I am 100% sure on that.

Something i got from log:

2010-07-23 19.37.33.578:INFO :Item "187:009207" eligibility from STRICT to NONE - [SELECTED].
2010-07-23 19.37.33.625:INFO :Item "187:009207" presented

2010-07-23 19.41.04.343:INFO :Selecting response option B

2010-07-23 19.41.06.421:INFO :Display Message: Click OK to continue.

see this is the 37th question log but the GMATPREP hasn't considered by response

Thank you for doing this - I am not sure I can "read" it
Do you have an example of another question? Perhaps 36 to compare the two?

Do not stress much on this. Answer the last question before you solve; if you are unable to complete then you have 50% probability that it will be counted, but if you do not answer the question before you solve and you run out of time then there is 100% probability that you will lose 3 percentile.

There are so many other important things/strategies you should know to beat the beast, these irrelevant things will distract you. Just to be on safer side answer it before you solve - That's it.

The biggest concern I have is, we unnecessarily complex the things. Take it easy, study hard and be confident about your abilities.

when i checked the log it has all 37 problems, on the last question i was not sure which option to pick thats why it is showing so many options.

I know doing R & D on GMATPREP is just a time waste...but this just happened with me so thought sharing it

I dont know if its right to post here but i have read it on another forum where they have got this issue confirmed from the GMAC people.
The answer is "yes" the selected answer gets counted even if we fail to hit the submit button on last question as the time runs out.

finally i have founded the quotes after searching for an hour...:( but worth for all of us :) here it goes.....

Hi, all

Just got a definitive answer from GMAC to the question: what happens if I've selected an answer but have not yet had time to confirm when time runs out?

If you have selected an answer bubble and time runs out before you can submit the answer (clicking either next or confirm), the test will still accept that answer. It will not be recorded as a missed question.

I Hope this Helps everyone......
thanx

Actually GMAT Prep is specifically designed differently so that no one could reverse-engineer it...
There are quite a few differences that were found in the un scientific analysis of gmat prep.

I emailed GMAC to ask them about this issue and they replied that it does not get saved. Here's their email response:

Thank you for contacting Pearson VUE.

We would like to inform you that the questions which would not be submitted by yourself will be marked as Not Attempted.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please contact us again.

----------------------------------------------------------------

My concern was specific to the last question on each section (37th on Quant and 41st on Verbal). What happens when I have 'selected' an answer choice for this last question but I am unable to submit it before the time ends? Is the answer to the last question accepted by the test?

That's pretty interesting. That's a change of a previous policy/rule that stipulated that as long as an answer choice was selected it would get submitted even if the time ran out.

This is good to know. Thank you for raising this question to the GMAC. I will cross reference it through our channels to see if we can confirm.

Thank you.

i believe AC56's post of the email from Pearson Vue is official enough. I would consider that as your final approach and it is the most conservative one as well (you won't go wrong with clicking submit a few seconds before your time runs out)

Subject: GMAT: Run Out of Time Before Confirming Final Response

On the GMAT, if I am on the last question of a section, and I select an answer, but run out of time before I can confirm it, what happens? Will the response be recorded or will the question count as unanswered?

I have seen conflicting posts on forums about the GMAC's official response to this question, so please investigate and let me know the correct answer.

Thank you very much.

Hi --,

Thank you for your inquiry. If you have selected an answer and time runs out before you can hit submit (clicking either next or confirm), the test will still accept that answer. It will not be recorded as a missed question.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your GMAT Score, please contact GMAT Customer Service at Pearson VUE (a service fee of US$10 may be required for phone transactions) and they can conduct an exam review to confirm your scores.
