It's clear that your time would be best spent in verbal! Don't rely on 'how it comes out of your mouth' for sentence correction. You need to be able to identify the meaning of the sentence and the grammatical mistakes present.

By brushing up your sc, you can improve your accuracy and save time! (so that you can spend it on other questions)

Check out manhattan sc, veritas prep videos and gpsc. Find the links and files are my debrief. All the best!

Thank you Shannon. Your debrief was extremely helpful, will use it for my prep. Do you think I should spend time to improve my quant speed?

Hi folks!

I just gave my GMAT in the morning and scored a 680 ( Q47 V35 IR 8 ). To give some back ground, I only started preparing on 27th May. I gave 4 GMAT Prep Tests on 29th and 30th and my scores were 690,690,710,710. Then I rushed myself through the MGMAT Verbal Guide before the exam day.

On the day of exam, June 2nd, i.e; today, I got a good 8 hour sleep but was feeling a bit burned because of the rushed prep. I work in a start-up and cant get enough time to invest some time daily. Anyway, AWA time was over just as I had finished proof reading, and I expect it to be between 5-6. Finished IR with 5 minutes to spare. Started the Quant well ( I was consistently score 49/50 in Prep Tests, so didn't go through any guide ), I am pretty sure I aced all the Problem Solving questions but I spend too much time on some. I am not sure as to how I did on Data Sufficiency, but I may have been penalized for lack of time management because finally I couldn't finish it. I couldn't attempt 3 questions in Quant section.

I am not even sure what happened in Verbal. I can confidently say that Critical Reasoning was a breeze after following the T Diagrams but, oh boy, Sentence Correction was purely based on what came out of my mouth and as for Reading Comprehension, I was confident of at least 70% of the questions( My native language is not English)

I would be extremely grateful if you can suggest what my next steps should be for a 740+ score. I intend to retake this in next 2 months to be ready for the Round 1 Deadlines. My target schools are Top 10 and I have Alumni Recommendations ( Wharton and Kellogg ).

If your target was 710-720, then you could have focussed your effort mainly on Quant and achieved the desired score 710(Q50 V35).
Since your target score is 740+ you need to 90%ile in both Quant/Verbal 740(Q50 V40).
My suggestion would be to first improve your quant to 50 and then work on your verbal.

You're welcome! Glad to know that my debrief is helpful. :)

You should surely improve on your quant speed, but remember to spend time on what matters the most, improving your overall score and getting a balanced split.

With a Q47-49, and V40-42: a score of 710 - 740 is possible.

Improve quant speed by understanding different solutions (using algebra, backsolving, eliminating bad answers...etc) and remember that all questions must be solvable in 2 minutes!
If you're taking too long, then make a good guess and move on. (you shouldn't have to do this too much though)
