Hi Gents,

I'm French and went to business school in France, to a French business school, which offered Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and MBA programs. These were ruled by their own admnistrations and were fully based on the typical American B-School.

Nevertheless, I received grades on a scale of 20 (typical in France) converted to letters. So for example, anything above 15.5/20 would be considered an A. Then from 15.5 to 13.5 you would get a B, etc.

There were no + or -, so you get a letter and that's it.

My average score was a 16.4/20, which is to say an A. I got 5 Bs and 24 As in total, and received a 18.5/20 on my thesis. I basically was valedictorian, was on the Dean's List every semester and received First Class Honours (does this even matter???).

I would very much appreciate any help or insight as to how to properly convert my grades to a GPA score that will make sense to American MBA programs.

Thanks very much for your feedback and please feel free to ask me questions if I have not provided important information,

You may use this converter to get an approximation; however, many US schools ask you not to convert the GPA. See this discussion.. https://gmatclub.com/forum/gpa-conversi ... l#p1941162

Unfortunately the site does not allow you to select France as a country. Weird...

In any event I selected Belgium, which also works on a scale of 0-20 and the calculator seems to return a 4.0 GPA for me. Do you think that makes sense considering I got a few B's?

Thanks for pointing me to the other conversation too. It definitely make sense and I will get in touch with admission officers once I start the process.

I guess I want to know what my real GPA looks like at this point so I can better evaluate how strong my profile is.

Thanks!

I don't know how these GPA conversion calculators work. Anyway if you want to evaluate your candidacy, there are many MBA experts on the forum who can give you accurate assessment of your profile. Visit this place.. https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

I wouldn't stress too much about the GPA conversion. Any school you apply to will review your transcript and they will be familiar with the grading system of B schools in France. Sounds like you killed it in the GPA arena. If your GMAT, work experience and essays can match that you should be in a very good position to get into a top program.
