This game is tempting me to spend my "stimulus" check on a PS3...

I'm leaning towards PS3 since it also serves as a blu-ray player. Those cost $400+, so that helps justify the cost of the PS3. Since the 40 GB PS3 is ONLY $400, it's like a blu-ray player with a free gaming system .

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV [#permalink]
If you are going to be using the Blu-Ray player (already have a 1080p TV and plan to use blu-ray DVDs), then by your logic PS3 makes sense.

For GTA IV, they are going to be coming out with exclusive content for the xbox sometime august. So, I would go out and get the xbox if I didn't have one.

Note: My opinion may be slightly biased because my second favorite game after GTA is Halo.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV [#permalink]
Personally, I like the xbox more. It seems like they have a better library of games and broader support. I don't know if hte PS3 can do it (it probably can) but the xbox can stream mp3 and divx videos off of a pc remotely which is nice. I also got my xbox for free at a MSFT recruiting event, so that helped...

Wait.. WHAT?!?!?! How do you get a free x-box?

I haven't checked out the online gameplay yet. The GTA world is so real I've barely even done any missions. Just walking around so far. And, I was watching the tv for a while yesterday. It's pretty funny specially the LCPD ad.

They gave an xbox 360 elite to everyone who came. Just kidding. They had two they were giving away and my name got picked out of a hat. Whats particularly funny about it is that I showed up late to the event and right before they pulled names they said does anyone else have an entry to put in, and I ran up front and threw in my name. You could hear the grunts and boohing when my name got pulled - obviously it was on top...

ARgh! I woke up this morning and thought to myself "Ah I'll sleep in a bit more and then I can play GTA all day!" .... only to realize "No wait, thats not right. I have to get up now, get dressed, go to school, do a ton of homework and then go to class this afternoon. Sigh."

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV [#permalink]
I want this game.

I'm debating the PS3 vs. 360 purchase.

I think I prefer the 360 because of the greater selection of games (at the moment), but I'm leaning PS3 because of reliability. For some reason I suffer an excess amount of grief when something I purchase breaks.
