I need help with my Quantitative.....:(

To be honest I'm probably not the person to ask about this - my undergraduate degree was in mathematics so I've just been looking to brush up on concepts I've not had to touch for nigh on a decade.

Without more info I'd suggest you look at the "Everything You Need to Prepare for the GMAT (revised)" thread right at the top of the page in the announcements section. (sorry, can't post links yet) Hopefully you will find an appropriate resource to help in there

@ Matilda1: If you think that your math skills are rusty, I would suggest you to start off with the book named MGMAT Math Foundations.

Thank you for the file. Is the Analysis tab supposed to calculate by itself? It doesn't seem to have any formulas?

It's a pivot table and you need to manually refresh it. There should be a new tool bar present that has a button that looks like an exclamation mark ('!').

Highlight a cell in the table and the exclamation mark should turn red, click it and the table will refresh.

 Kudos, Fixed in v1.1. I've double checked the other answers and they all seem to be correct but I can't guarantee I've not missed another one!

Whilst I was at it I also added the secondary categories and sub categories to the DS tab. I did that section first and decided to only include the main values. I later changed my mind and included all of them when I completed the PS section but forgot to go back and alter the DS tab. I also fixed a couple of tiny cosmetic issues that bugged me :-D

The documents are great, thank you so much!

One more thing: Is there anything like this for Kaplan Workbooks?

Not as far as I am aware, although as I did not personally use those workbooks I may have missed them.

Thanks for the reply! Just another small thing: how do I determine the difficulty of the questions in the Official Guide books? (whether its "easy, "medium", or "hard")?

Supposedly they are all arranged in an increasing order of difficulty but it is not a clear cut (sometimes questions are mingled)... but in generally, that's the principle.

Is there some similar document for OG-13 with difficulty levels marked and non-repeats (from old edition) marked as well?

Hi,

seeing as no-one else had done it and I found the original document useful I've put together a version of the file that covers the second editions of both the Quantitative and Verbal Review Guides.

As with the Official Guide document you can use this file to:

  • Find details about every question available in the Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review 2nd edition
  • Find details about every question available in the Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review 2nd edition
  • Help find specific practice questions and build your custom practice tests that focus on your weak areas
  • Analyze your mistakes in the-Official Guide (Error-log and Analysis tabs)
  • Find additional information such as length of RC passages, category and other

I've made a few tweaks - the pivot table is generated in Excel 2003 so people with older versions can refresh it (although it doesn't look as pretty!) The error log also includes difficulty level and this is included in the analysis tab by default. Incorrect answers are highlighted in the individual tabs for ease of use.

I have not included the GC categories, mainly because I haven't used them yet so any categorization would be at best a guess. I have left in the columns in case someone wants to add the information.

Hope you find it useful

Edit: 04 Jul: Edited for layout and added image
15 Jul: v1.1 Changed OA for DS 18 to correct value of C, added missing secondary (sub-)categories to DS tab (99 downloads)

Hi Guys,
Can any body kindly let me know that if this is the updated one for both OG Verbal 2 and OG Quant review 2...?

Would really appreciate your feedback on this.
