Am I the only one who is copying 250 word essays from Microsoft Word to the Haas application website which tells me they are now 255-257 words? Frustrating. Based on everything I've read for other schools, going slightly over the word count doesn't really matter that much, so I'm hoping it doesn't matter. However, Berkeley is the only program I've seen that actually lists the word count when you copy and paste it in. Grrrrr.

Yeah I found that frustrating as well. I think what was happening is that contractions, such as "we've" are one word in Microsoft Word, and two works in Haas Word. Honestly Berkeley's algorithm is probably better, but I had the same reaction of frustration when I realized I had to trim my already polished essay even further. Goodbye extra adjectives!

Sounds right. Unfortunately, possessives are also counted as two words, so "my manager's goals" becomes four words instead of three. Seems silly, but oh well. I'm assuming that the format that the admissions committee receives the application in is the same that as the format you see when you hit "print application" so I doubt they even see the word count.

As of last night, I'm officially in for R3! Best of luck for everybody!

I called the admissions office about this matter when I applied. They're aware of the potential for discrepancies and said that applicants are fine as long as essays are within 10% of the word limits.

Any part time students in here? I applied in R1 part time and interviewed in early December. Im so anxiously waiting for a decision- which i think is around Feb 14th.
Did full time students start hearing the week of the deadline or just 2-3 days before? I assume- admit is usually conveyed with a call and ding or waitlist through email alert?

I received my interview invitation on Jan 17th. My interview is this week. I applied in R2.
I was rather surprised to see that email because my recommendations were not even in at that time, and i took my second GMAT on 14th.

My overall application is decent but GMAT score is relatively low for Haas, so keeping my fingers crossed.....and praying.

I interviewed with the head of IB for a large commercial bank. He had interviewed a friend of mine last year (who is currently at Haas) and another friend a few years ago (who went to Haas as well). He kept a poker face all along the interview, and I didn't think I did very well. The interview was mostly a discussion on how I deal with things (an annoying colleague, leading people, etc.), my career so far and my future plans.

Make sure you have your story straight, a good number of situations covering most questions (tell me a time when you xxx) and ask a few smart questions in the end (a few a like: "what was the most surprising/least expected thing about haas you found out after you got in", "today, xx years after you left haas, what do you thing is the deepest impact haas had in you", "the recent crisis made a lot of people question bschool, how do you think haas prepares people to current challenges, such as ethics, global, etc.").

i was thinking the same. haven't heard of any scholarships offered straight up. i called financial aid and they said that scholarships were awarded, so i guess we'll have to take their word for it

Just got my interview invitation!!! So excited! People going to Super Saturday, were you invited in the e-mail or was it something you eleceted from the on-campus choice? I'm in LA, so think I'm going to do off-campus anyway, but just wanted to know.
