Here are my notes for the Admission Cafe today, hope this will answer some questions!
Academic - School GPA/Standard Test Scores
• The standard test is required: GMAT/GRE/EA - No preference, take whichever works for you. (Applicants who have 8+ years of experiences can take EA)
• The standard test is a great way for applicants to prep for MBA.
• If the standard test score is scheduled after the deadline, you have 2 weeks to submit otherwise application will be considered incomplete.
• Low GPA/Standard test score - consider taking credible quant courses (Berkeley offers Math for Management, you can also take math courses online or in city colleges).
• TOFEL - if you didn't recieve your bachelor's or master's degree in the U.S., you have to take TOFEL.
Professional - Resume/Letter of Recommendations
• Recommenders will receive a link to a list of questions.
• Recommenders - it's better to be your supervisors who work within 5 years; any special conditions, feel free to schedule a personal consultation with Admission Office!
Personal - Essays/Interview
• EWMBA applicants are required to do video interviews. The questions will send out within 24-48 hours after submitting the application. The applicants will have up to 1 week to submit.
• Essays will help AdCom to learn about you and to get to know you better!
Other Admission Questions
• As for now, Cal Advantage won't be offered this year.
• Each round is equal in terms of admission; only apply with the strongest application.
• Scholarship opportunities are offered in earlier rounds.
Class/Student Life
• Students have 2.5-5 years to finish an MBA part-time.
• Students are average 6-8 years of working experience; a minimum of 3 years of working experience is required.
• Target to admit 275 students in a class; 4 cohorts with 5-6 students in each study group.
• The students usually get the cohort (MW/TR/S) they prefer.
