Here are my notes for the Admission Cafe today, hope this will answer some questions!

Academic - School GPA/Standard Test Scores

• The standard test is required: GMAT/GRE/EA - No preference, take whichever works for you. (Applicants who have 8+ years of experiences can take EA)
• The standard test is a great way for applicants to prep for MBA.
• If the standard test score is scheduled after the deadline, you have 2 weeks to submit otherwise application will be considered incomplete.
• Low GPA/Standard test score - consider taking credible quant courses (Berkeley offers Math for Management, you can also take math courses online or in city colleges).
• TOFEL - if you didn't recieve your bachelor's or master's degree in the U.S., you have to take TOFEL.

Professional - Resume/Letter of Recommendations

• Recommenders will receive a link to a list of questions.
• Recommenders - it's better to be your supervisors who work within 5 years; any special conditions, feel free to schedule a personal consultation with Admission Office!

Personal - Essays/Interview

• EWMBA applicants are required to do video interviews. The questions will send out within 24-48 hours after submitting the application. The applicants will have up to 1 week to submit.
• Essays will help AdCom to learn about you and to get to know you better!

Other Admission Questions

• As for now, Cal Advantage won't be offered this year.
• Each round is equal in terms of admission; only apply with the strongest application.
• Scholarship opportunities are offered in earlier rounds.

Class/Student Life

• Students have 2.5-5 years to finish an MBA part-time.
• Students are average 6-8 years of working experience; a minimum of 3 years of working experience is required.
• Target to admit 275 students in a class; 4 cohorts with 5-6 students in each study group.
• The students usually get the cohort (MW/TR/S) they prefer.

Hey! Welcome! It's going to be self-recording videos, see the details below (quoted from haas website):

• Two video interview questions, 1-2 minutes of response time each
• Completed after submitting your application
• Required for an offer of admission
• Applicants will complete two short video questions in lieu of in-person interviews.

Our video interview provides the opportunity to ensure each candidate receives a very similar interview experience, which aids us in reducing unconscious bias in our admissions process. We are using the video interview to get to know you better outside of a written essay template. We also hope it is more convenient for those candidates who are applying from outside of the Bay Area.

For each question, you will have 1-2 minutes of response time. One question will be based on your desire to attend Haas and the other one will focus on leadership. You will complete the video interview post submission of your application. We will provide a link to the video interview in 1-2 days after you have submitted your application.

Thanks for all the information! I have a MS from a university in the US. I wanted to know if I would be eligible for a waiver for TOEFL

The website says
Quote:
However, if at the time you are applying you have already completed at least one year of full-time academic coursework with grades of "B" or better in residence at a recognized US institution, you do not need to take a standardized English language proficiency test. Instead, you must submit an official transcript from the recognized U.S. institution. The following courses will not fulfill this requirement:

Courses in English as a Second Language
Courses conducted in a language other than English
Courses that will be completed after you apply
Courses of a non-degree or non-academic nature

However I did teaching assistantships and research projects as part of my degree. Would that disqualify me from the TEOFL waiver? Thanks!

Hi All,

Just recently finished my application for the Evening/Weekend MBA Program at Haas. I got the video interview link, it is stated that there will be 2 questions - 1 about your desire to attend Haas and 1 about leadership. I have a few questions:

1. Has anyone completed this yet and have any advice/information about the process?
2. What are the questions? Do they differ from person to person?
3. If you click the link, do you have to complete the interview immediately? Or can you come back and do it later?

Please let me know your experiences! Thank you.

Did you take TOEFL prior to entering your MS degree? Or you have TOEFL waived for the MS degree? If you already took TOEFL and have an MS degree from a US university, you should be fine, however, I'd encourage you to talk to the Admission Office just to make sure :) The AO is really nice so don't hesitate to ask them any questions!

I think it’s closer to the April 6th timeline the school outlined. My understanding is it’s not on rolling basis.

Anyone heard on the status of their R1 Application today?

Looking at the Decision Tracker for prior year, people update their Admitted status around 11:30am pst on the day of the decision date. So very soon? Good luck!!
