The data for this category is {41, 46, 54, 63, 71, 73.4, 73.5, 99.6}. Hence, median for this category is (63+71)/2=67.

50% of listed states/territories, or 4 states/territories, that are closest to the median value (67) for that category are  New South Wales  (63),  Victoria  (71),  Western Australia  (73.4),  South Australia  (73.5)

then why New south wales not more typical than any other? it has 63%, the closest one to the median 67%.. I'm confused

Please re-read my post above. I already said that New South Wales IS typical.

I THINK, IT IS BECAUSE WHEN YOU TAKE  South Wales  (63), AND  Victoria  (71) BOTH HAVE THE SAME DISTANCE FROM THE MEAN WHICH IS 4. ===> 63+4=67, AND 71-4=67.

But a similar distance from the mean would make Victoria equally typical as South Wales, not more typical.

"No currently active NBA player that has received an MVP trophy, has won more Championships than Steph Curry"

This statement would remain true, even though players such as Lebron James have won a similar number of championships.
