The online application for a B-schools ask "Has Your Education Been Interrupted?" and provides a text box for explanation.

If someone has a drop-year/gap-year following high school, which is very common in a country like India to prepare for engineering entrance exams, does that count as an interrupted education? Or is it only to explain a break in the middle of high-school/college?

I assume it's a fairly common questions in the applications. Does anyone has experience/insights on this?

Most programs ask for information from the time of your undergrad, so a gap year before the commencement of should not count. However, if they are collecting your high school info as well, then it makes sense to address this gap year
