Hi Everyone-- I'm planning on applying to HBS this fall, and I have a question about visiting vs. attending a regional info session.
I live in the southeast, and am contemplating driving to Atlanta to attend an info session. Has anyone been to one of these, and are they worth it?
My other options would be to fly to Boston before I submit and touring the campus (downside- expensive and no classes) or applying and visiting later in the fall when I can attend a class (downside- it would be after I applied).
Any thoughts?
What I've been told from friends who graduated from HBS is that the admissions committee doesn't place as much emphasis on whether you visit campus/attend regional info sessions as much as other schools do because...they're HBS, and if you're admitted it's almost a certainty you're going to go.
I attended a regional information session and did not find it particularly insightful. Most of the information that was shared was stuff I knew from reading their website/websites like this one. YMMV.
EDIT: My wife actually just walked by with my notes from the regional info session:
-Case method requires GREAT listeners
-Appetite & attitude for analytics
-Community engagement
-Think of the essay as 1 BIG essay
-Verbs>Adjectives (Recommendations)
