I have an okay job, but I want to do my MBA.What do i do? will i ever get to do it from a top college in the US? have all my dreams shattered? Is this it? should I just give up on top schools?­
Due to being a caretaker to my parent I did very bad in undergrad and have only 40% in bcom degree from india. 85% in mcom distance edu both­.

The key to success may be closer than we think. If your dream is to work in the US, create a roadmap with all possibilities. Be more pragmatic about your low scores and consider the best possible paths for reaching the same destination (or a similar one) in the mid/long term. What I am trying to say is that you should not disregard the value of doing an MBA in India (or a lower ranked school abroad thats ready to give you a chance) and using that as a launchpad for your global career. If studying at a top school is your dream, I can tell you that you can certainly dream bigger and not only limit yourself to dreaming about getting into a lifetime of debt. Rethink your long-term vision and work hard to move toward it.

­Hello home717,

Thanks for writing in.

Our suggestion would be for you to take it one step at a time; you should prepare for GMAT/GRE, take the test, and then understand where your best chances are. The GMAT score will become all the more important considering your academic record.

Most schools have Optional Essays, where you can talk about your limitations; however, the essays come later on; for now, focus on what needs to be done first.

Hi there!

Please don't give up.

If you put your heart and mind to it - you can make your life situation better:

1. Over a period of time you can work your way to a better job. (Things to try: small certifications + switch + repeat few times/perhaps an MBA along the way)

2. Simultaneously prepare for and excel in the GRE or GMAT.

3. If you can take care of these two aspects, you should be able to crack a decent college in the US.
