So this is one of the questions from princton reveiw's drills on decimals.
Question:divide 19.6 by 3.22(rounded to the nearest hundred)
What am i supposed to do in this question?
The answer they have given is 6.09

How are other answer choices? If they are far off then estimating should be fine. If they are close together, then you should know that it's about more than 18/ more than 3 is round 6 times.

On the GMAT, you'll pretty much always be able to estimate on a question like this.
If, for some reason, you need to get an exact answer, here's what you do:
1. 'Shift the decimals': 19.6/3.22 is the same thing as 196/32.2, which is the same thing as 1960/322. (Note that I had to add a zero to the 196 to multiply it by 10 a second time, since I ran out of decimals to get rid of!)
2. Do long division using those two numbers, until you have the precision you need.
If, for some reason, you need to get an exact answer, here's what you do:
