How many cats, c, does Eleanor own?

Number of cats is POSITIVE number.

(1) c^2 = 5c + 14

c^2- 5c - 14= 0........implies there are tow factors: one is positive and other is negative. Accept positive number only . No need to factor out.

Sufficient

(2) 3c^2 = 22c - 7

3c^2 -22c + 7= 0........implies there are two positive factors. Accept the only integer one. No need to factor out.

P.S.: the coefficient of C^2 is 3, so e know that one factor will be fraction.

Sufficient

Answer: D
